Apple and Blackberry Crumble

this recipe is delicious, and i've never had any disasters with it! i made a crumble with some family friends recently, and it was the first rasberry crumble i've ever made! it was really nice, so you could always swap or mix the two.

55g butter or margarine
100g plain flour
50g oats
30g caster sugar
3 eating apples
a big handful of blackberries.
cinnamon to dust


  1. Preheat the oven to 190C or gas mark 5.
  2. Rub the butter or margarine into the flour until it looks like breadcrumbs.
  3. Stir in the oats and sugar and make sure they’re well mixed in.
  4. Peel the apples and remove the core, cut into chunks and thin slices for extra texture.
  5. arrange the apple slices in the oven-proof dish. Add the blackberries and gently spread them out. The apple chunks should fill it up of the way, so if there are not much you may want to add an extra apple if possible.
  6. sprinkle the crumble topping over the apple slices and sprinkle the cinnamon on top of this.
  7. bake for 25-30 minutes, until the apple is soft and the crumble is golden.
